What I love about pottery is the endless possibility and creativity.

I create functional utilitarian pottery using a high-fire porcelain as this clay body offers a white smooth surface to showcase soft pastel color glazes. As my work is quite thin, the durability of high-fire porcelain allows my pots to withstand the daily usage. In my latest series of work, I re-explore complex assembled form using basic structures and carving technique.

Growing up in a Vietnamese family, I learned to appreciate both the beauty and utilitarian quality of the fine blue and white chinaware as a young child. My grandmother would allow the serving of these delicate bowls and plates with cobalt brush work only upon special occasions. Despite my early fascination with ceramics, I did not get to work with clay until high school and have been interested in this medium since then.
